July Delights!

Here is my first calf for 2025! She is a Longhorn Brangus cross and is showing signs of her mother’s brindle coat. She is very spry and curious and loves to take long naps in the shade with her aunts and uncles who are on guard for predators.

Coyotes are the most common predator for the calves at this young age. Longhorn cattle are excellent watch “dogs” since it is their instinct to protect the herd.

A Rare Sighting!

In July the bluebells are always putting on a show! Their vibrant blues shimmer in otherwise dry pastures. Their pedals provide much needed moisture for tiny tree frogs and bees. This one is a rare albino bluebell! It markedly stands out amid the soft blues in the field…alone…but still providing much needed protection!

A Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray that You wrap Your loving arms around all of the families that have lost their beautiful children, those who lost their Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts or Uncles in this Flash Flood Event in the Texas Hill Country.

I pray for all of the First Responders, Rescuers, and Helpers who have been working around the clock to look for those who are missing. Please guide their eyes and ears and strong arms to those who were swept away by this unheralded flood.

May everyone feel Your Presence as we all go through this difficult time. You are with us and You are Carrying us forward until we are Reunited with You in Heaven.

I pray this prayer in Your Son Jesus’ name,

Amen

Nature is Showing Signs of Fall

The native pecan trees are beginning to put out pecans! It’s always so exciting to see these magnificent trees start to do this!!! They are guaranteeing that their species will continue on for many years to come!

Early Morning Walk!

The air this morning is crisp and fresh! Nature is waking up and showing us her beauty. The spring grasses are coming in nicely even though we do need rain and the birds are busy with their nest!

Spring is such a wonderful season! Enjoy! The bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush are out in full force!

Now, This is Real Snow on the…Texas Prairie!

Early this morning we were given a dusting of snow! Underneath this white layer are bluebonnet seeds that will start sprouting soon!!! Spring is right around the corner ya’ll…

Happy 2025!!!

We are ALL counting our blessings!!!

Ending July on a Good Note

Not one, not two, not three, but four little cuties!!! These four calves are a longhorn, brangus cross. They still have that low birth size typical of a longhorn but their bone structure on the leg is slightly denser. They are also the friskiest little rascals! Their favorite thing to do is to run in circles chasing each other!

Bluebells!!!

Spectacular bluebells this year!!!

Think About all the Ways You and the Pollinators are Alike!

On this Easter Sunday we really have a lot in common with the pollinators!!! Think of all the ways!!!!!
